Jecheon City Talent Foundation and Jecheon Pickleball Club Donate Scholarships to Foster Local Talent
Based on the meaningful generosity of local amateur sports enthusiasts, the Jecheon City Talent Foundation is set to further accelerate its efforts to cultivate talent. Jecheon City held a donation ceremony for 3 million won in scholarships for local students at the Mayor's office, attended by representatives from the Jecheon Pickleball Club.
The Jecheon Pickleball Club, which presented the scholarship, is an amateur sports organization that took its first steps in December 2023 and currently has 66 active members. Using pickleball—a racket sport that combines the fun of tennis, badminton, and table tennis and has recently gained popularity among people of all ages—the club has raised Jecheon's profile by consecutively winning first and second place in national-level tournaments.
Not content with their outstanding achievements in various competitions, the club members voluntarily gathered their sincerity to prepare this scholarship, aiming to give back to the local community the vitality and spirit of harmony gained through sports. An official from the Jecheon Pickleball Club expressed his sentiments, stating that the scholarship is particularly meaningful as it was prepared through the collective efforts of the members who sweat it out while training. He hoped it would serve as warm encouragement for the talented individuals who will lead the region's future and pledged to continue growing into an exemplary club that not only improves its skills but also serves the community.
An official from the Jecheon City Talent Development Foundation also expressed gratitude to the club for practicing warm sharing to support the growth of local youth, noting that the club has already brought honor to the region with excellent results in national competitions. He pledged to ensure the scholarships are delivered to students in dire need so that the members' precious intentions can shine, and pledged to use the funds wisely for the development of local education.
