Targeting Elementary School 3rd Grade to Middle School 2nd Grade Students; Submissions Accepted Until June 12th in Three Categories: Video, Writing, and Drawing
- Superintendent’s Award and Gift Certificates Worth Up to 200,000 Won to be Awarded… Expected to Spread Cases of Student-Led Growth
(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 19th that it will hold the ‘2026 Jeonnam Student Education Allowance Utilization Case Contest’ to promote student-led growth and share the educational effects of the policy.
This contest was organized to discover and spread the diverse experiences and positive changes of students utilizing the Jeonnam Student Education Allowance.
The contest is open to students in grades 3 through 8 of elementary school within Jeonnam Province. The submission period runs from May 18th until 6:00 PM on June 12th. The contest is divided into three categories: Video (short-form, vlog, animation, etc.), Writing (personal accounts), and Drawing (posters, four-panel comics, etc.).
The contest themes include cases of career and dream growth utilizing the Jeonnam Student Education Allowance, changes in daily life after using the allowance, experiences of using it collaboratively with friends, and other creative usage examples. Participants are encouraged to freely express various stories related to the Student Education Allowance.
Students wishing to participate can complete the application form and their artwork posted on the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education website and submit them via email or mail (School-Age Population Policy Division, Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, Muan-gun).
The Provincial Office of Education plans to announce the winners between June 24 and 26 following a rigorous screening process. A total of 18 outstanding works will be selected and awarded, with one entry each from elementary and middle school students in each category. Winners will receive the Jeonnam Provincial Superintendent of Education Award, along with gift certificates worth 200,000 won for the Grand Prize, 100,000 won for the Excellence Prize, and 50,000 won for the Encouragement Prize.
Meanwhile, past examples of encouragement awards are also drawing attention. In the "2025 Contest" held last year, vivid accounts of students exploring career paths and nurturing their dreams through the allowance were submitted and garnered significant resonance. These included the Grand Prize in the writing category, "Draw My Tomorrow with the Jeonnam Student Education Allowance!", and the Grand Prize in the drawing category, "Design My Dream."
An official from the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education stated, "Since its introduction in the 2024 academic year, the Jeonnam Student Education Allowance has contributed to guaranteeing students' right to learn and bridging the educational gap." He added, "We hope that through this contest, excellent examples of student-led learning and diverse career and experiential activities will become widely known."
