Gwangju Metropolitan City Launches ‘Germany Global Meister Field Training’ for Vocational High School Students

Jointly planned with the Jeonnam Human Resources and Lifelong Education Promotion Agency… Targeting 20 students to experience Europe’s cutting-edge industrial sites and advanced education systems – Visiting world-class companies such as Festo, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche to strengthen practical on-site capabilities for responding to future industries

(Break News Gwangju Jeonnam) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Jeonnam Human Resources and Lifelong Education Promotion Agency are officially launching the ‘2026 Global Meister Field Training’ to significantly enhance the global perspective and practical capabilities of vocational high school students in the region.

Taking place in Germany until the 18th, this training is a core talent development project designed to help students from specialized and Meister high schools transform into future industrial talents equipped with global competitiveness by allowing them to directly experience advanced European technology and vocational education systems.

The 20 vocational high school students finally selected for the training have undergone a thorough preparation process. Through a preliminary domestic training program held last June, the students completed customized vocational education linked to key regional industries. After concluding an orientation in July and solidifying their capabilities as next-generation industrial leaders, they boarded a plane to Germany.

This field training program was designed in a multifaceted manner to go beyond simple observation and combine practical skills with theoretical knowledge.

Students will visit BBZ Mitte GmbH, a specialized training institution for industrial masters in Germany, and major vocational schools (BTZ Weiterstadt, Brühlwiesenschule Hofheim) to experience the local vocational education system in depth. Through meetings with on-site masters, they will learn the know-how of "Ausbildung," Germany's representative vocational education model, and have the opportunity to broaden their professional awareness as skilled technicians.

Visits to global companies leading the world industrial market will also follow. The training delegation will visit Festo, a global process automation solution company; Kärcher, a technology-driven global cleaning equipment company; and the Mercedes-Benz factory and Porsche Museum, which boast a world-class automotive brand. Through this, students will witness firsthand state-of-the-art automated production processes, robotic technology, and vehicle manufacturing processes, allowing them to experience the current state of advanced European industries.

Shim Young-hee, Acting Director of the Jeonnam Human Resources and Lifelong Education Promotion Agency, stated, "This field training in Germany will serve as an opportunity for local youth to expand their dreams by directly experiencing world-class advanced vocational education and technology in the field." She added, "We will continue to implement multifaceted support policies to strengthen international capabilities so that vocational high school students in the Jeonnam-Gwangju region can grow into field-oriented professional talents capable of demonstrating sufficient competitiveness on the global stage."
