Jeonnam Public Corporation and Government-funded Agency Heads' Council Holds Meeting… All-out Effort for ‘Jeonnam-Gwangju Integration and Yeosu Island Expo’

Council Chairman Jang Chung-mo: “We will create tangible results for residents by strengthening cooperation among public institutions” - Heads put together to resolve local issues, including practicing ESG management and spreading a gender-equal organizational culture

(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Council of Heads of Public Corporations and Government-funded Agencies in Jeollanam-do held a meeting on the 21st and decided to significantly strengthen the cooperation system to resolve local issues, such as mutual cooperation between Jeonnam and Gwangju and the practice of ESG management.

The heads of 15 public corporations and government-funded agencies in Jeonnam attended the meeting to intensively discuss ways to expand cooperative projects among the institutions. Previously, the Council has jointly responded to major local issues and policy initiatives, such as issuing a statement supporting the administrative integration of Jeonnam and Gwangju and signing a business agreement to support the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo.

At this meeting, a large number of concrete cooperation plans were derived that leverage the unique characteristics of each institution. Key topics for discussion included environmental cleanup activities for the successful hosting of the Yeosu World Island Expo (Jeonnam Development Corporation), cooperation in fostering local brands for regional tourism in the southern region and promoting "Jeonnam Blue Workcation" (Jeollanam-do Tourism Foundation), establishment of a Jeonnam-style integrated care model (Jeollanam-do Social Service Agency), and promotion of the Gender Equality Workplace Challenge (Jeonnam Women & Family Foundation).

In particular, the participating organizations agreed to join forces across the board to revitalize eco-friendly tourism using the Yeosu World Island Expo as an opportunity, and to spread a gender-equal organizational culture and create a fair working environment.

Furthermore, in line with the region's top priority of the "Administrative Integration of Jeonnam and Gwangju," the plan is to generate tangible results that residents of both cities and provinces can experience firsthand by expanding inter-agency collaborative projects and solidifying policy cooperation. Council Chairman Jang Chung-mo stated, “We will further strengthen the cooperation system among public institutions for the successful launch of the integrated Jeonnam-Gwangju Special City,” adding, “We will do our best to promote sustainable regional development and produce tangible results for residents by supporting the successful hosting of the Yeosu World Island Expo and expanding ESG-based regional co-prosperity projects.”
