[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 경남 사천시가 ‘제2회 우주항공의 날’을 맞아 시민 참여형 우주항공 문화행사 지원에 나선다.
사천시는 우주항공청이 주관하는 ‘우주항공 주간’ 행사 기간인 오는 23일부터 29일까지 지역 연계 프로그램과 행정 지원을 추진한다고 밝혔다.
우주항공의 날은 우주항공청 개청일인 2024년 5월 27일을 기념해 제정된 국가기념일이다. 정부는 이를 통해 국내 우주항공 산업 육성과 우주경제 시대 상징성을 부각하고 있다.
우주항공청은 행사 기간 기념식과 전시·체험행사, 산업·교육 프로그램 등을 운영할 예정이다. 사천시는 우주항공청 소재 도시로서 행사 운영 지원과 홍보, 안전관리 협조 등을 맡는다.
특히 오는 27일 우주항공청에서 열리는 기념식과 연계해 시민 체험형 전시 프로그램이 운영된다. 사천시는 사천시립도서관에 우주항공 전용 코너를 조성해 우주항공 관련 도서와 콘텐츠를 시민들이 접할 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다.
청소년 대상 프로그램도 확대된다. 사천시는 우주항공청과 교육지원청, 한국항공우주산업(KAI) 등과 협력해 전문가 학교 방문과 진로 탐색, 산업 현장 견학 프로그램을 운영할 예정이다.
사천시는 우주항공청 개청 이후 지역 정체성을 ‘우주항공 중심도시’로 강화하고 있는 가운데, 이번 행사를 통해 시민 체감형 우주항공 문화 확산과 미래 인재 육성 기반 조성에 초점을 맞추고 있다.
