Okcheon-gun Cheongseong-myeon Community Social Security Council Promotes Safety Bar Installation Project for Vulnerable Groups

Support Provided for Installation of Safety Bars and Stair Handrails in 11 Vulnerable Households with Mobility Impairments

The Cheongseong-myeon Community Social Security Council has set out to improve the safe living environment for vulnerable groups.

The Cheongseong-myeon Community Social Security Council (Co-chairs Kim Hee-yeon and Kim In-ha) carried out the "Safety Bar Installation Project" for two months starting last March, targeting households of the elderly and disabled with mobility difficulties. They have completed the installation of safety bars and stair handrails in a total of 11 households.

This project was established to prevent safety accidents and alleviate daily inconveniences for vulnerable groups who face a high risk of falls when moving within their homes due to old age or physical limitations. The Council collaborated with local village heads and the Customized Welfare Team to identify eligible recipients. After conducting preliminary on-site surveys to meticulously analyze each household's residential structure and movement patterns, they installed safety bars and stair handrails in a customized manner. In particular, safety devices were reinforced in high-risk areas such as bathroom entrances, around toilets, and entrance stairs to ensure that residents can live in a safer environment. This support is expected to significantly reduce the risk of falls for the elderly and disabled and help them maintain independent daily lives.

Co-chair Kim In-ha stated, "This project is significant not only for the installation of facilities but also for improving the quality of life and ensuring safe living for vulnerable groups." She added, "We will continue to actively identify neighbors in welfare blind spots and consistently pursue customized welfare projects that provide practical assistance."

Meanwhile, the Cheongseong-myeon Community Social Security Council is striving to build a community safety net by promoting various welfare projects based on public-private cooperation, including identifying households in welfare crisis, improving living environments, and providing emotional support.
