Okcheon County to Operate ‘26 Vivid National Heritage Project Programs Until November

Historical Experiences at Ijidang, Jo Heon’s Tomb, and Other Sites… Reservations Accepted via ‘Nolto App’

Okcheon County is launching the ‘Vivid National Heritage Project,’ a program designed to allow participants to directly experience the region’s history and culture, as part of the National Heritage Administration’s public competition project, the ‘2026 Our Local National Heritage Project.’

Held under the theme “Okcheon, the Land Embracing the Spirit of Two Scholars,” this project is designed to help participants naturally understand local culture by presenting the historical value contained within the region’s national heritage through experiential programs rather than dry explanations.

Continuing until this coming November, the program takes place in areas surrounding Okcheon’s representative Confucian heritage sites, including Ijidang, Jo Heon’s Tomb, and Okju Samaso. The detailed programs are comprised of a total of four types tailored to the participants' preferences. Key programs welcoming visitors include: ▲ "Okcheon Outing with Jo Heon," a 2-day, 1-night stay-type tour following in the footsteps of Jo Heon; ▲ "Crafting and Crafting at Ijidang," a pottery experience held amidst the beauty of Ijidang; ▲ "Okcheon, The Beginning of Victory," where visitors can learn the history of Jo Heon's Righteous Army through weapon experience; and ▲ "Uam Okju Workshop," a woodcraft experience enjoyed at Samaso.

Residents and tourists wishing to participate can check the detailed schedule and make advance reservations via the mobile platform "Nolto, History Guide in My Hand" application.

An official from Okcheon County stated, "We hope that national heritage goes beyond simply being objects to be preserved to become cultural spaces where generations communicate and local pride is felt," adding, "We ask for your interest and participation in this project, where you can experience the scholarly spirit of Okcheon."
