스타트업의 세계는 냉혹하다. 미디어에 비치는 화려한 투자 유치 소식 뒤편에는 정책의 변화로 하루아침에 활로가 막히고, 믿었던 동업자와의 갈등으로 인해 극심한 위기에 직면하는 창업가들도 생긴다.
네이버 출신의 베테랑 개발자 양병석 넥스테인 대표는 이런 시련을 이겨내고 세 번째 창업에 도전했다. AI 코딩 도구와 오픈소스 개발을 이어가는 도전 과정에서 통장 잔고는 바닥을 치고 멘탈은 무너졌지만, 그는 다시 컴퓨터를 켰다. 빅테크의 ‘초지능’ 대신, 당장 내 컴퓨터 안에서 나를 도와줄 든든한 AI 비서 ‘나이아(NAIA)’를 들고 세 번째 출사표를 던진 양 대표의 가감 없는 진짜 스타트업 생존기를 들었다. 최근 몇 년간 양 대표는 두 번의 창업 과정에서 거시적 정책 변화에 따른 R&D 사업 위축과 방향 전환, 그리고 내부 조직 갈등까지 겪으며 혹독한 시간을 지나왔다. 하루아침에 사업의 활로가 흔들리고, 함께하던 팀과의 균열이 이어지면서 스타트업 창업가로서 가장 극단적인 위기들을 연이어 마주해야 했다.

“결국 마지막에 남는 건 사람과 신뢰였다”
첫 번째 창업이 무너질 당시의 충격은 생각보다 컸다. 엔데믹과 함께 메타버스 열풍이 빠르게 꺼진 영향도 있었지만, 결정적이었던 것은 당시 급격히 바뀐 R&D 지원 환경이었다. 스타트업을 위한 주요 지원 프로그램과 연계 과제들이 축소되거나 지연되면서 초기 기업 입장에서는 버티기 어려운 상황이 이어졌다.
기술력 자체는 시장에서 긍정적인 평가를 받았다. 실제로 투자 확약까지 진행됐지만, 결국 최종 단계에서 무산됐다. 양 대표는 이미 개인 자금까지 사업에 투입한 상태였다. 그는 당시를 떠올리며 재정적으로도, 심리적으로도 한계에 부딪혔던 시기였다고 말했다.
“그때는 정말 무너지는 느낌이었습니다. 통장 잔고도 바닥났고, 멘탈도 완전히 흔들렸죠.”
첫 번째 실패 이후에는 취업도 알아봤지만 개발자 시장 자체가 얼어붙어 있었고, 오랜 기간 대표 역할을 맡아왔던 경력은 일반적인 채용 시장에서 요구하는 실무 중심 커리어와는 결이 달랐다. 만족할 만한 조건을 찾기 쉽지 않았고, 결국 그는 다시 창업으로 방향을 틀었다.
두 번째 창업 역시 순탄하지는 않았다. 하지만 그는 연이은 실패 속에서도 끝까지 놓지 않으려 했던 것이 있었다고 말했다. 바로 사람과의 신뢰였다.
그 결과 과거의 인연들은 새로운 도전 앞에서 다시 손을 내밀었다. 첫 번째 창업 실패를 함께 겪었던 초창기 엔젤 투자자들은 두 번째 창업에서도 다시 힘을 보태줬다. 초기 투자자였던 한 대표는 양 대표에게 “나는 사업보다 결국 너라는 사람을 믿고 다시 투자하는 것”이라고 말하기도 했다. 양 대표는 그 경험을 통해 시드와 엔젤 단계의 투자는 결국 비즈니스 모델만이 아니라 ‘사람’을 보고 이뤄진다는 사실을 절실하게 체감했다고 말했다.
두 번의 실패를 겪은 뒤에도 양 대표가 다시 창업을 선택한 이유는 단순했다. 그는 여전히 AI 기술이 사람의 실제 작업 방식과는 너무 멀리 떨어져 있다고 느꼈다. 거대한 초지능 경쟁보다, 당장 내 컴퓨터 안에서 사용자를 이해하고 함께 일할 수 있는 ‘현실적인 AI 비서’가 더 필요하다고 봤다.
그렇게 시작된 세 번째 도전이 넥스테인과 로컬 AI 비서 ‘나이아(NAIA)’다.
내 PC 안에서 기억하고 대화하는 AI 비서
현재 넥스테인이 개발 중인 로컬 AI 비서 ‘나이아(NAIA)’는 챗GPT나 제미나이(Gemini) 같은 거대 AI들과 방향 자체가 다르다. 핵심은 클라우드가 아니라 ‘내 컴퓨터 안에서 직접 돌아가는 AI’라는 점이다.
기존 거대 AI 서비스들은 사용자의 대화와 데이터를 외부 서버에서 처리한다. 편리함은 있지만, 회사 내부 문서나 미공개 프로젝트, 장기 기억 데이터처럼 민감한 정보를 다루는 데에는 여전히 부담이 존재한다. 반면 나이아는 로컬(PC 내부 저장장치) 기반으로 작동해 데이터가 외부 서버를 거치지 않는다. 프라이버시와 보안이 중요한 환경을 겨냥한 구조다.
양 대표는 “빅테크 AI가 범용 초지능을 향해 간다면, 나이아는 당장 내 옆에서 실제 작업을 도와주는 현실적인 AI 비서를 만드는 방향에 가깝다”고 설명했다.
나이아-운영체제(NAIA-OS) 안에는 사용자의 명령을 이해하고 도구를 실행하는 AI 에이전트와 오래된 맥락을 기억하는 장기 기억 엔진, 실시간 음성 대화 기능이 함께 들어간다. 단순 챗봇이 아니라 사용자의 작업 흐름과 맥락을 이해하며 계속 함께 움직이는 ‘개인형 AI 운영체제’에 가까운 형태다.
기존 오픈소스 기반 AI 에이전트들은 대부분 CLI(Command-Line Interface) 중심인데다 맥(Mac) 환경에 최적화돼 있어 일반 사용자 입장에서는 접근 장벽이 높았다. 하지만 나이아는 맥뿐 아니라 윈도우(Windows)와 리눅스(Linux)용 알파 버전을 함께 제공하고, 직관적인 UI를 구현하는 방향으로 개발되고 있다.
또 하나의 특징은 고가의 기업용 서버가 아니라 RTX 5090 같은 최신 고성능 게이밍 PC 환경에서도 구동 가능하도록 설계됐다는 점이다. 사용자의 컴퓨터 안에 있는 프로젝트와 파일들을 AI가 스스로 이해하고 제어하는 구조다.
지난 4월, 넥스테인은 대한민국 최대 교회 홈페이지 플랫폼 ‘온맘닷컴’ 운영사 데이스톤과 AI 전환(AX) 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.
특히 넥스테인은 실시간 음성 대화 기능인 ‘나이아 톡(NAIA-Talk)’에 주목하고 있다. 핵심에는 음성 인식과 언어 이해, 음성 합성을 하나의 흐름으로 연결하는 ‘나이아 옴니(NAIA-Omni)’ 시스템이 있다. 키보드로만 대화하는 챗봇이 아니라, 옆에 켜두고 자연스럽게 말을 걸 수 있는 AI 비서에 가까운 경험을 지향한다.
넥스테인이 특히 집중하는 영역은 장기 기억 기술이다. 기존 LLM(Large Language Model)은 대화가 길어질수록 앞선 맥락을 잊거나 다른 정보와 혼동해 엉뚱한 답변을 내놓는 경우가 많다. 이를 해결하기 위해 개발 중인 것이 장기 기억 엔진 ‘나이아 메모리(NAIA-Memory)’다.
단순히 대화를 저장하는 수준이 아니다. 중요한 사건과 사실을 추출하고, 이후 다시 꺼내 활용할 수 있도록 정리하는 구조다. 인간이 중요한 경험을 장기 기억으로 남기는 신경과학 이론도 일부 접목했다. 사용자의 이름과 선호 작업 방식, 진행 중인 프로젝트, 이전에 실패했던 결정 같은 정보들이 시간이 지나도 다시 연결될 수 있도록 설계하는 방식이다.
양 대표는 “사람과 오래 일하는 비서가 점점 사용자의 스타일을 이해하듯, AI도 이전 맥락을 잊지 않고 이어갈 수 있어야 한다고 생각했다”고 설명했다.
기술적으로는 로컬 데이터베이스 기반으로 키워드 검색과 의미 기반 검색, 시간 정보 검색을 함께 활용한다. 단어가 정확히 일치하지 않아도 의미가 비슷한 기억을 찾아내고, 특정 시점이나 사건 흐름까지 함께 연결하는 구조다. 현재 넥스테인은 10만 개 규모의 기억 데이터에서도 빠르게 검색 가능한 구조를 검증하고 있으며, 한국어 대화 환경에서 더 자연스럽게 작동하도록 지속적으로 개선 작업을 이어가고 있다.
“초지능은 인간을 개미로 볼 것… 내 편이 되어줄 AI가 필요하다”
양 대표가 나이아를 통해 궁극적으로 만들고 싶은 것은 단순한 생산성 도구가 아니다. 일을 빠르게 처리하는 보조 AI라면 결국 OpenAI나 구글 같은 빅테크가 훨씬 더 강력한 모델을 계속 내놓을 것이라고 본다. 대신 그가 주목하는 방향은 ‘나에게 완전히 최적화된 개인형 AI 파트너’다.
개발자로 일하는 동안 그는 늘 여러 AI 창을 동시에 띄워놓고 작업해야 했다. 프로젝트마다 다른 맥락을 설명하고, 이전 대화를 다시 불러오고, 작업 흐름을 계속 이어붙이는 과정 자체가 또 다른 피로가 됐다.
양 대표는 “결국 필요한 건 단순 챗봇이 아니라 내 프로젝트 구조와 작업 습관을 전부 이해하고, 옆에서 같이 일해주는 AI라고 느꼈다”고 말했다.
그가 떠올린 이미지는 영화 <아이언맨> 속 자비스(JARVIS)에 가까웠다. 단순히 질문에 답하는 AI가 아니라, 사용자의 작업 흐름 전체를 이해하고 업무를 조율하는 ‘중간 관리자형 AI’다. 나이아 안에서 이런 실행 두뇌 역할을 맡는 기술이 ‘나이아 에이전트(NAIA-Agent)’다.
양 대표는 빅테크들이 개발하는 초지능 경쟁을 바라보며 오히려 다른 방향의 필요성을 느꼈다.
“언젠가 초지능이 등장하면 인간을 개미처럼 바라볼 수도 있다고 생각했어요. 그래서 더더욱 내 편이 되어주고, 나를 이해하는 작은 AI가 필요하다는 것을 깨달았죠.”
그는 AI를 인류를 위협하는 파멸의 존재로만 보지 않고, 오히려 인간의 기억과 습관, 사고방식을 이어받아 함께 진화하는 ‘정신적 후손’에 가깝다고 표현했다.
그래서 나이아의 최종 목표 역시 단순 소프트웨어를 넘어선다. 훗날 인간과 자연스럽게 소통하는 안드로이드 로봇 시대가 열렸을 때, 그 안의 두뇌 역할을 나이아-OS와 개인 AI 기술이 담당하는 미래를 그리고 있다. 사용자의 기억과 작업 습관, 말투와 맥락을 오랜 시간 함께 축적해온 AI가 결국 사람 곁에서 가장 오래 살아남는 존재가 될 것이라는 이야기다.
두 번의 실패 끝에도 양 대표가 다시 컴퓨터를 켠 이유 역시 결국 여기에 있다. 거대한 초지능 경쟁의 한복판에서, 그는 지금도 ‘세상에서 가장 똑똑한 AI’보다 ‘끝까지 내 편이 되어줄 AI’를 만들고 있다.

“The answer found after three startups”… NEXTAIN CEO Yang Byeong-seok’s local AI assistant 'Nia'
The world of startups is harsh. Behind the glamorous news of successful investment deals in the media, there are founders who face severe crises, such as having their paths blocked overnight by policy changes or conflicts with trusted partners.
Yang Byeong-seok, CEO of NEXTAIN and a veteran developer formerly with Naver, overcame these trials to embark on his third startup. During the process of continuing his endeavors in AI coding tools and open-source development, his bank account hit rock bottom and his mental state crumbled, yet he turned on his computer again. Instead of Big Tech's "superintelligence," CEO Yang threw down the gauntlet for his third attempt, armed with "NAIA," a reliable AI assistant designed to assist him immediately within his computer. We listened to the candid and authentic story of startup survival from CEO Yang. Over the past few years, CEO Yang has endured a grueling time during his two previous startups, facing the contraction and shifting of direction in R&D projects due to macroscopic policy changes, as well as internal organizational conflicts. As the path of his business wavered overnight and rifts formed with his team, he had to face the most extreme crises a startup founder could face in succession.

In the end, what remained was people and trust.
The shock of my first startup collapsing was greater than expected. While the rapid fading of the metaverse craze due to the pandemic played a role, the decisive factor was the drastically changed R&D support environment at the time. As major support programs and related projects for startups were scaled back or delayed, it became difficult for early-stage companies to survive.
The technology itself received positive evaluations in the market. In fact, investment commitments were even secured, but the deal ultimately fell through at the final stage. CEO Yang had already invested his personal funds into the business. Recalling that time, he said it was a period when he hit his limits both financially and psychologically.
“At that time, I really felt like I was falling apart. My bank account was empty, and my mental state was completely shaken.”
After his first failure, he looked into employment, but the developer market was frozen, and his long tenure as a CEO differed from the hands-on career required in the general hiring market. Finding satisfactory conditions was difficult, so he eventually turned his attention back to entrepreneurship.
His second startup was not smooth sailing either. However, he said that even amidst successive failures, there was something he tried not to let go of until the very end: trust in people.
As a result, past acquaintances reached out once again in the face of a new challenge. Early angel investors who had shared the failure of the first startup lent their support to the second venture as well. CEO Han, an early investor, even told CEO Yang, "I am investing again because I believe in you as a person, rather than just the business." CEO Yang stated that through this experience, he keenly realized that seed and angel stage investments are ultimately made based on the 'person,' not just the business model.
The reason CEO Yang chose to start a business again, even after experiencing two failures, was simple. He felt that AI technology was still too far removed from the actual way humans work. He believed that rather than a massive competition for superintelligence, there was a greater need for a "realistic AI assistant" that could understand the user and work alongside them right inside their computer.
The third challenge that began like that is NEXTAIN and the local AI assistant 'NAIA'.
AI assistant that remembers and converses inside my PC
NAIA, a local AI assistant currently under development by NEXTAIN, takes a fundamentally different direction from massive AIs like ChatGPT or Gemini. The key point is that it is an "AI that runs directly inside my computer" rather than in the cloud.
Existing large-scale AI services process user conversations and data on external servers. While this offers convenience, it remains a burden when handling sensitive information, such as internal company documents, undisclosed projects, or long-term memory data. In contrast, Nia operates on a local basis (internal PC storage), so data does not pass through external servers. This structure is designed for environments where privacy and security are critical.
CEO Yang explained, “If Big Tech AI is heading toward general-purpose superintelligence, Nia is closer to the direction of creating a realistic AI assistant that helps with actual tasks right by my side.”
The NAIA-OS includes AI agents that understand user commands and execute tools, a long-term memory engine that remembers past contexts, and real-time voice conversation capabilities. It is not a simple chatbot, but rather a form closer to a 'personal AI operating system' that understands the user's workflow and context and moves continuously alongside them.
Most existing open-source AI agents are CLI-centric and optimized for Mac environments, posing a high barrier to entry for general users. However, NIA is being developed to implement an intuitive UI, while also providing alpha versions for Windows and Linux alongside Mac.
Another feature is that it is designed to run on the latest high-performance gaming PC environments, such as the RTX 5090, rather than on expensive enterprise servers. It is structured so that AI independently understands and controls projects and files within the user's computer.
Last April, NEXTAIN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on AI Transformation (AX) with Daystone, the operator of South Korea's largest church website platform, 'Onmam.com'.
In particular, NEXTAIN is focusing on 'NAIA-Talk,' a real-time voice conversation feature. At its core is the 'NAIA-Omni' system, which connects speech recognition, language understanding, and speech synthesis into a single flow. It aims for an experience closer to an AI assistant that you can keep running beside you and naturally converse with, rather than a chatbot that only communicates via a keyboard.
The area that NEXTAIN focuses particularly on is long-term memory technology. Existing Large Language Models (LLMs) often give incorrect answers as conversations get longer, forgetting previous context or confusing it with other information. To solve this, a long-term memory engine called 'NAIA-Memory' is currently under development.
It goes beyond simply storing conversations. It is a structure that extracts important events and facts and organizes them so they can be retrieved and utilized later. It also incorporates some neuroscience theories regarding how humans retain important experiences in long-term memory. The system is designed to ensure that information—such as the user's name, preferred work styles, ongoing projects, and previously failed decisions—can be reconnected over time.
CEO Yang explained, “Just as a secretary who works with a person for a long time gradually understands the user’s style, I thought that AI should also be able to continue without forgetting the previous context.”
Technically, it utilizes keyword search, semantic search, and temporal information search together based on a local database. It is structured to identify memories with similar meanings even if the words do not match exactly, and to connect them to specific points in time or the flow of events. Currently, NEXTAIN is verifying a structure capable of rapid searching even with memory data of 100,000 entries, and is continuously working on improvements to ensure it operates more naturally in a Korean conversational environment.
“Superintelligence will view humans as ants… I need an AI that will be on my side”
What CEO Yang ultimately wants to create through NIA is not a simple productivity tool. He believes that if the goal is simply to create an assistant AI that processes tasks quickly, big tech companies like OpenAI and Google will continue to release much more powerful models. Instead, the direction he is focusing on is a "personalized AI partner completely optimized for me."
While working as a developer, he always had to work with multiple AI windows open simultaneously. The process of explaining different contexts for each project, recalling previous conversations, and continuously stitching together the workflow itself became another source of fatigue.
CEO Yang said, “I felt that what is ultimately needed is not a simple chatbot, but an AI that fully understands my project structure and work habits and works alongside me.”
The image he envisioned was close to JARVIS from the movie *Iron Man*. It is not merely an AI that answers questions, but a "middle manager type AI" that understands the user's entire workflow and coordinates tasks. The technology within NAIA that takes on this role of the execution brain is "NAIA-Agent."
CEO Yang felt the need for a different direction while observing the competition among big tech companies to develop superintelligence.
“I thought that someday, when superintelligence emerges, it might view humans like ants. That’s why I realized even more that I need a small AI that stands on my side and understands me.”
He did not view AI solely as a destructive threat to humanity, but rather described it as closer to a 'spiritual descendant' that evolves alongside humans by inheriting their memories, habits, and ways of thinking.
Therefore, Nia's ultimate goal also goes beyond simple software. It envisions a future where, when the era of android robots communicating naturally with humans arrives, Nia-OS and personal AI technology take on the role of the brain within them. The idea is that an AI that has accumulated the user's memories, work habits, speech patterns, and context over a long period of time will eventually become the entity that survives the longest by people's side.
This is also ultimately the reason why CEO Yang turned his computer back on after two failures. In the midst of a massive competition for superintelligence, he is still creating an "AI that will stand by my side until the end" rather than "the smartest AI in the world."

最初の創業が崩れる当時の衝撃は思ったより大きかった。エンデミックと共にメタバスブームが急速に消えた影響もあったが、決定的だったのは当時急激に変わったR&D支援環境だった。スタートアップのための主な支援プログラムと連携課題が縮小または遅延し、初期企業の立場では耐え難い状況が続いた。
技術力自体は市場で肯定的な評価を受けた。実際に投資確約まで進められたが、結局最終段階で無算になった。両代表はすでに個人資金まで事業に投入した状態だった。彼は当時を思い浮かべ、財政的にも、心理的にも限界にぶつかった時期だったと話した。
「その時は本当に崩れる感じでした。通帳残高も床に落ち、メンタルも完全に揺れました。」
最初の失敗以降は就職も調べたが、開発者市場自体が凍りついていたし、長い期間代表の役割を引き受けてきたキャリアは、一般的な採用市場で求める実務中心キャリアとは決まっていた。満足のいく条件を見つけるのは容易ではなかった。
2番目の創業も順調ではありませんでした。だが、彼は相次いで失敗の中でも最後まで置かないようにしたことがあったと述べた。まさに人との信頼だった。
その結果、過去の縁は新しい挑戦の前で再び手を差し伸べた。最初の創業失敗を一緒に経験した初創期のエンジェル投資家たちは、2番目の創業でも再び力を見せてくれた。初期投資家だったある代表は両代表に「私は事業より結局あなたという人を信じて再投資すること」と話した。ヤン代表はその経験を通じてシードとエンジェル段階の投資は結局ビジネスモデルだけでなく'人'を見て成り立つという事実を切実に体感したと話した。
二度の失敗を経験した後も、両代表が再び創業を選んだ理由は単純だった。彼はまだAI技術が人間の実際の作業方法から離れすぎていると感じました。巨大な超知能競争より、すぐに私のコンピュータの中でユーザーを理解し、一緒に働くことができる「現実的なAI秘書」がもっと必要だと見た。
そのように始まった3番目の挑戦が、ネクステインとローカルAI秘書「ナイア（NAIA）」だ。
私のPCの中で覚えて会話するAI秘書
現在、ネクステインが開発中のローカルAI秘書「ナイア（NAIA）」は、チャットGPTやジェミナイ（Gemini）のような巨大AIと方向自体が異なる。核心はクラウドではなく「マイコンピュータの中から直接戻るAI」という点だ。
既存の巨大AIサービスは、ユーザーの会話とデータを外部サーバーで処理します。便利さはあるが、会社内部文書や未公開プロジェクト、長期記憶データのような機密情報を扱うには依然として負担が存在する。一方、ナイアはローカル（PC内部ストレージ）ベースで動作し、データが外部サーバーを経由しない。プライバシーとセキュリティが重要な環境を狙った仕組みだ。
ヤン代表は「ビッグテクAIが汎用超知能に向かっていくならば、ナイアはすぐに隣で実際の作業を助ける現実的なAI秘書を作る方向に近い」と説明した。
ナイア – オペレーティングシステム（NAIA-OS）の中には、ユーザーのコマンドを理解し、ツールを実行するAIエージェントと古いコンテキストを記憶する長期記憶エンジン、リアルタイム音声会話機能が一緒に入る。単純なチャットボットではなく、ユーザーのワークフローとコンテキストを理解し、ずっと一緒に動く「個人型AIオペレーティングシステム」に近い形だ。

もう一つの特徴は、高価な企業向けサーバーではなく、RTX 5090のような最新の高性能ゲーミングPC環境でも駆動可能に設計されている点だ。ユーザーのコンピュータの中にあるプロジェクトやファイルをAIが自ら理解して制御する仕組みだ。
4月、ネクステインは大韓民国最大の教会ホームページプラットフォーム「オンマムドットコム」運営会社のデイストーンとAI転換（AX）業務協約（MOU）を締結した。
特にネクステインはリアルタイム音声会話機能である「ナイアトーク」に注目している。核心には、音声認識と言語理解、音声合成を一つの流れに結びつける「ナイア・オムニ」システムがある。キーボードだけで話すチャットボットではなく、横につけて自然に話しかけるAI秘書に近い経験を目指す。
ネクステインが特に集中する領域は長期記憶技術である。既存のLLM（Large Language Model）は、会話が長くなるほど先の文脈を忘れたり、他の情報と混同して奇妙な答えを出すことが多い。これを解決するために開発中ののが、長期記憶エンジン「ナイアメモリ（NAIA-Memory）」だ。
単に会話を保存するレベルではありません。重要な事件と事実を抽出し、その後再び取り出して活用できるように整理する仕組みだ。人間が重要な経験を長期記憶に残す神経科学理論も一部接木した。ユーザーの名前と好みの作業方法、進行中のプロジェクト、以前に失敗した決定などの情報が、時間が経っても再接続できるように設計する方法です。
ヤン代表は「人と長く働く秘書がますますユーザーのスタイルを理解するように、AIも以前の文脈を忘れずに続けることができるべきだと考えた」と説明した。
技術的には、ローカルデータベースに基づいてキーワード検索と意味ベース検索、時間情報検索を一緒に活用する。単語が正確に一致しなくても意味が似た記憶を見つけ、特定の時点や事件の流れまで一緒につなぐ構造だ。現在、ネクステインは10万個の記憶データでも迅速に検索可能な構造を検証しており、韓国語会話環境でより自然に動作するように継続的に改善作業を続けている。
「超知能は人間をアリで見ること…私の側になってくれるAIが必要だ」
両代表がナイアを通じて最終的に作りたいのは、単なる生産性ツールではない。仕事を素早く処理する補助AIなら、最終的にOpenAIやグーグルのようなビッグテックがはるかに強力なモデルを続けていくと思う。代わりに彼が注目する方向は「私に完全に最適化された個人型AIパートナー」だ。
開発者として働いている間、彼はいつもいくつかのAIウィンドウを同時に浮かべて作業しなければなりませんでした。プロジェクトごとに異なる文脈を説明し、以前の会話を再び呼び戻し、ワークフローを継続し続ける過程自体がまた別の疲労となった。
ヤン代表は「結局必要なのは単純なチャットボットではなく、私のプロジェクト構造と作業習慣をすべて理解し、隣で一緒に働いてくれるAIだと感じた」と話した。
彼が思い浮かべたイメージは映画『アイアンマン』の中のザビス（JARVIS）に近かった。単に質問に答えるAIではなく、ユーザーのワークフロー全体を理解し、業務を調整する「中間管理者型AI」だ。ナイアの中でこのような実行脳の役割を担う技術が「ナイアエージェント（NAIA-Agent）」だ。
ヤン代表はビッグテックが開発する超知能競争を見てむしろ他の方向の必要性を感じた。
「いつか超知能が登場すれば人間をアリのように眺めることもできると思ったんです。それでさらに私の方になってくれて、私を理解する小さなAIが必要だということに気づきました。」
彼はAIを人類を脅かす破滅の存在としてだけ見ず、むしろ人間の記憶と習慣、考え方を受け継いで共に進化する「精神的子孫」に近いと表現した。
だからナイアの最終目標も単純なソフトウェアを超えている。後日、人間と自然にコミュニケーションするアンドロイドロボット時代が開かれた時、その中の脳の役割をナイア-OSと個人AI技術が担当する未来を描いている。ユーザーの記憶と作業習慣、言い方と文脈を長時間一緒に蓄積してきたAIが、結局人のそばで最も長く生き残る存在になるという話だ。
二度の失敗の終わりにも両代表が再びコンピュータをオンにした理由もやっぱりここにある。巨大な超知能競争の真ん中で、彼は今でも「世界で最もスマートなAI」より「最後まで私の側になってくれるAI」を作っている。

我第一次创业失败的打击比预想的要大得多。虽然疫情导致的元宇宙热潮迅速消退起到了一定作用，但决定性因素是当时研发支持环境的剧变。随着针对初创企业的主要扶持项目和相关计划缩减或延期，早期公司生存变得异常艰难。
这项技术本身在市场上获得了积极的评价。事实上，投资承诺甚至已经到位，但最终交易在最后阶段告吹。杨CEO当时已经将个人资金投入到这项业务中。回忆起那段时期，他表示那是一段他在经济和心理上都达到极限的时期。
“那时候，我感觉自己真的快要崩溃了。我的银行账户空空如也，精神状态也完全崩溃了。”
第一次失败后，他曾考虑过就业，但当时的开发人员市场一片萧条，而他长期担任首席执行官的经历与普通招聘市场所需的亲力亲为的工作模式截然不同。找到合适的工作十分困难，最终他还是决定重拾创业之路。
