The People Power Party’s path to survival lies within the people, not the National Assembly!

- Byun Ji-ryang (Strategic Planning Committee Member, National Policy Committee, People Power Party)

South Korean politics stands at a critical crossroads. The massive ruling party is unilaterally dominating the legislature with its overwhelming majority of seats, while the Lee Jae-myung administration is a continuous series of abnormalities, running amok on state affairs while relying on the so-called "dog daughter."

The main opposition party is facing criticism for being in disarray and failing to exert sufficient checks and balances within the National Assembly. In this situation, if the People Power Party remains confined to its parliamentary strategy, the public will question the very reason for the opposition party's existence.

What is needed now is a "two-track strategy" that combines parliamentary struggle with struggle outside the National Assembly. We must fight with bills and policies within the National Assembly, and outside the Assembly, gather public sentiment together with the people to defend the values of democracy and the rule of law. This is truly the essence of the opposition party.

**Byun Ji-ryang** I believe this is also the reason why Representative Jang Dong-hyuk chose to engage in extra-parliamentary struggle by going among the people. Extra-parliamentary struggle is not intended for the sake of a single specific pending issue.

It must be a process of discussing institutional reforms to enhance public trust in the electoral system, fostering public interest in the principles of the rule of law, checking the massive ruling party's legislative excesses and incompetent governance, and debating and presenting alternatives to the issues that cause the public so much worry and tears—ranging from the collapsing livelihood economy to problems faced by small business owners and youth. In particular, the trial of President Lee Jae-myung must be officially raised.

All National Assembly members, district committee chairpersons, and metropolitan and local council members belonging to the People Power Party must go among the people. The public wants an opposition party that seeks to resolve difficulties on the ground, sharing in the joys and sorrows of the people, rather than one that merely holds press conferences inside the National Assembly.

The strength of the opposition party comes not from the number of seats, but from the trust of the people. An opposition party that fails to win the public's heart among the people cannot succeed with any strategy. For the People Power Party to rise again, it must unite as one, transcending factional divisions. Vision and action directed at the people must take precedence over internal criticism.

Now is not the time for Representative Jang Dong-hyuk to guard the public square alone. The entire People Power Party must take to the streets to breathe with the people and be reborn as a party that brings the people's voices into the National Assembly. Only an opposition party that goes among the people can win their choice. Only an opposition party that stands with the people can change the future of South Korea.
