Shinsegae Gwangju Launches ‘Cultivating Local Talent’… 7th Cohort of University Student Field Training Begins

Practical training for 11 local university students to run for 4 weeks starting July 1st - Providing a solid curriculum ranging from job experience to marketing content creation and career coaching

(Break News Jeonnam Gwangju) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Shinsegae Gwangju announced that it is officially launching the ‘University Student Field Training’ program to cultivate talent tailored to the retail industry through industry-academia collaboration with local universities.

Born in its 7th year, this training is a mutual growth program in which local universities and local companies cooperate. It was established to help local university students acquire practical skills by directly applying the theories they learned in school to the industrial field.

The course will run for a total of four weeks, from July 1st to July 28th. A total of 11 university students selected through a rigorous screening process from two local universities are participating, and the program consists of a robust curriculum covering the entire retail industry, including job exploration, practical marketing, and participation in social contribution activities.

In particular, word has spread among university students hoping to enter the retail industry that this is an opportunity to directly experience the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for the job, leading to a noticeable increase in applicants year after year.

Selected interns will enhance their understanding of the retail field by experiencing duties in the sales department, which is at the forefront of the industry, as well as working in customer-facing departments such as customer service centers and lounges. Furthermore, they will participate in a practical, hands-on program to create marketing content and experience Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by joining "Green Market," a representative social contribution activity of Gwangju Shinsegae.

To provide practical assistance to interns in their third and fourth years who are about to enter the workforce, Gwangju Shinsegae has also organized Q&A sessions with current employees and career coaching sessions.

Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, stated, "This training is part of our efforts to foster local talent. We have prepared a more robust curriculum to help local university students with a strong interest in the retail industry grow to the next level," adding, "We hope that through this internship, the participating students will be reborn as tailored talents who will lead the retail industry."
