[Columnist Yoon Eun Key, Korea Lecturer News] It is surprising that “Love and love again” is a corporate motto rather than a slogan of a religious group. Woongjin Group’s motto is “Tto-tto-Sarang.” In a corporate environment where efficiency and profit are prioritized, the word “love” may sound unrealistic, but Woongjin Group Chairman Yoon Suk-kum states that this “Tto-tto-Sarang” is the energy of success that enabled the company to grow, overcome crises, and rise again.
The core concept of 'X Management,' which I advocated, is that multiplying different management resources can achieve super-performance. Woongjin Group's 'Tto-Tto Love,' which has overcome a crisis and is making a new leap forward by multiplying love, is an interesting and valuable success story of 'X Management.'
The 'Tto-Tto Love' defined by Chairman Yoon Suk-kum is not merely a repetition of the words 'I love you.' It is perfected through six specific targets of practice. Let us analyze each element from the perspective of 'X Management.' Six core values are embedded in 'Tto-Tto Love.'
First, love yourself (Self-Love)
All positive energy originates from oneself. Only when one values oneself and takes pride in oneself is a healthy sense of self established for cooperation (X) with others. This is a concept similar to the great practical philosophy of Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, known as Aegi-aeta (loving oneself and loving others).
Second, love your workplace (Workplace-Love)
The workplace is not merely a space for making a living, but a venue for self-realization. When members love the organization as if it were their own bodies, 'collaborative management' becomes possible, breaking down barriers between departments.
Third, love your work (Job-Love)
It is an attitude of viewing work as an object of play and passion rather than an obligation. When one genuinely loves their work, creative immersion occurs, which acts as a multiplier that exponentially increases the quality of the results.
Fourth, love your customers (Customer-Love)
It is to think from the customer's perspective and do one's best with sincerity. When love for customers deepens, a strong network of trust is formed that goes beyond a simple purchasing relationship.
Fifth, love society (Social-Love)
Companies are members of the social ecosystem. When they fulfill their social responsibilities and practice sharing, their brand value combines with public support to transform into a massive social asset.
Sixth, love change (Change-Love)
It is an attitude of embracing innovation without complacency. When you embrace change as an opportunity rather than fear, you ride the currents of a rapidly changing era to gain new growth engines.
The core of my 'X Management' is the 'principle of multiplication through collaboration and convergent creation.' The secret behind Woongjin Group's miraculous comeback after overcoming management crises caused by past events, such as the acquisition of Far East Construction, lies precisely in the fact that these six forms of love were multiplied together. If conventional management is an 'addition (+)' approach that efficiently allocates resources, 'Tto-Tto Love' is a 'multiplication (×)' approach that connects individual values to generate explosive synergy.
A 'miracle' that cannot be explained arithmetically occurred when the energy of members trusting one another (love for the workplace), not fearing change (love for change), and upholding customer trust (love for customers) during a moment of crisis was multiplied into a single energy.
Love is the most valuable management resource.
Chairman Yoon Suk-kum says, “If you love and love again, miracles happen.” This is a profound insight that the invisible value of love acts as a “multiplier” for all activities within an organization, maximizing performance. The courage to adopt “love” as a company motto in a cutthroat market, and the example of concretizing that love into six action principles and elevating it into a management system, resonate deeply with the leaders of our time.
In the age of AI, the human heart is more important than technology. The solution for our society and economy, too, must go beyond merely adding our capabilities and multiply the sincerity of love. 'Tto-tto-sarang' (Love Again) has a peculiar charm that makes both the person shouting it and the person listening feel good.
Love and love again. If you multiply love, a miracle will surely happen.
