Anwar Al-Hejazi, Chief Executive Officer of S-OIL
S-OIL, led by Chief Executive Officer Anwar Al-Hejazi, was named a “World” company in the 2025 Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJBIC, formerly the DJSI Sustainability Indices) for the 16th consecutive year since 2010. The achievement marks the first and only such record among not only domestic refiners but also Asian refining companies.
DJBIC is an authoritative sustainability index under which S&P Global, the world’s largest financial information provider, comprehensively evaluates more than 2,500 companies worldwide each year across economic, social, and environmental factors, including corporate governance, supply chain management, environmental performance, and human resource development. It is widely used as a benchmark for measuring corporate sustainability by reflecting the ESG performance of global companies.
An S-OIL official said, “Based on transparent management and an outstanding ESG framework, the company was recognized for its achievements in ESG risk management, stakeholder communication, and the advancement of carbon management,” adding, “Through the construction of the Shaheen Project, we will enhance energy efficiency and strengthen our sustainable management capabilities.”
Meanwhile, S-OIL has operated an ESG Promotion Committee made up of top management and executives since 2021, and since 2023 it has established an ESG Committee under the Board of Directors to deliberate on and review ESG strategies and policies.
Through these efforts, the company has been further strengthening its ESG management by pursuing key tasks such as responding to climate change, managing safety and the environment, enhancing employee capabilities, and expanding social contribution activities.
