HD Hyundai Marine Solution announced on May 18 that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AEG (Aperion Energy Group), a U.S. energy infrastructure development company, for the maintenance of power generation engines at a data center.

The agreement centers on long-term service agreement (LTSA) and operations and maintenance (O&M) cooperation covering 33 power generation engines installed at a data center currently under construction in the state of Texas.

The equipment subject to this collaboration is a power generation system based on the 20-megawatt (MW) HiMSEN engine, for which HD Hyundai Heavy Industries signed a supply contract with AEG last April. With HD Hyundai Marine Solution taking full charge of aftermarket management for the entire 684-megawatt installation, the synergies between group companies are expected to be maximized.

Through this collaboration, HD Hyundai Marine Solution sees an opportunity to demonstrate its industry-leading engine maintenance expertise in the North American market. In particular, long-term service agreements offer the prospect of sustained ongoing revenue, unlike one-time sales.

The company aims to expand its market share across North America on the strength of its partnership with AEG, with a strategy to capture emerging demand by combining the proven performance of the HiMSEN engine with professional aftermarket (AM) solutions.

A company official at HD Hyundai Marine Solution stated, “As power demand surges rapidly, the importance of thorough maintenance services for data center power generation engines is growing,” adding, “Through this collaboration, we will prove our AM solution capabilities in the global market and actively pursue new demand in North America.”
